life, week 45

Birthday week is over and plenty of fun was had. But now I'm ready for everyday routines - for the new week and the new month. The lack of routines make me feel scattered and restless. Off to remedy that with a to do list.

in transit // from boob to pram

A stroll in the sun is always a good idea - both for body and soul.

In black and white this looks like the reflection in water rather than looking up in the sky.

Forever and ever attracted to light. Also, thanks to my mamma for the lovely birthday lilies.

She was so into the Lego, so she didn't want to have her picture taken. This was what I got. (Had to document the face paint she got in kindergarten for Halloween.)

Big milestone for big sister Sara today; she finally let go (with a little help from her parents) of her dear, beloved pacifiers. We biked in the dark and hang them all on the pacifier tree by the lake. I wonder how the first night without the pacifier will be...

Again with the light.

this guy

I thought he was ready for his long morning nap and I happily planned my own morning nap. When he woke up after five minutes, I decided it was time for a walk around the lake instead. Fresh air and exercise never fail. #astridspramwalkdiaries

When the mommy brain fog clears, you might be surprised to find the cheese sharing the side table with your kid's Lego in the living room.

No nap for mamma today either, but I have been out for a walk around the lake plus done errands - including an impulsive parkas buy (it was 50% off) and getting a parking fine.

My little bear cub needed a new hat, so he got the blue one with ears because his mamma bear could not resist the cuteness.

Whole grain spaghetti, pesto, canned mushrooms, fresh mushrooms, canned ham, spring onion, squash, garlic and grated cheese (vellagret Norvegia). Even though the grocery store is 2 minutes from our house, I don't always feel like going shopping. Pasta, pesto, canned mushrooms, canned ham and garlic are some of the things I always keep in my pantry. How about you, what's in your pantry?

- both Sara and I have a cold - nothing serious, just annoying
- Sara's night time coughs (last night she coughed so hard she vomited, poor thing)
- my sweets craving is back and so is my willpower to stop it - maybe I need to step up the juicing

Answer to a question in the comment section:

Filipa wrote: I live in Portugal and for us is really strange to see a baby sleep outside. Specially with rain and low temperatures! Here we are affraid of getting rain and cold weather... Why do you have that habit?

I think the habit of babies sleeping outside in their prams (even in below zero temperatures) is typical for the Nordic countries. It is said that the fresh air make the babies sleep longer and boost their immune system. Although there is no research to support this (I think, but here is something BBC reported.).

life, week 44

Forever thankful for lovely light. And coffee.

Aunt Mari meets Sverre for the first time. Instant friends.

cousins s and s meet for the first time // my heart melted a thousand times

36 is off to a good start // nursing baby, ice cream and coffee in bed

I'm not ready for that nap yet, mamma.

So proud of my little biker girl. Also, so much love for this kind of afternoon sunlight.

Currently: solo dinner of leftover baked salmon, potato wedges and lettuce. And I'm eating like a grownup with a knife and fork! Normally I have to nurse Sverre at dinner time these days. Sverre is sleeping in the car seat in a dark corner of the living room. Sara is in a birthday party at a huge indoor playground (Leos Lekeland). Luckily grandpa could join her. Sølve is still at work. Also: baking a whole lot of banana muffins for Sara's birthday tomorrow (to bring to kindergarten) and waiting for my sister @marihagen and nephew Sondre to come visit. What are you doing?

4!

Hot dog party with four grandparents, aunt @marihagen and cousin S. Good times for a 4 year old!

the calm before the storm // celebrating Sara's 4th birthday with 16 kindergarten friends today (which turned out to be 12 and much more bearable)

post party painting pause // why haven't we gotten her some paint before? apparently she loves it!

Enjoying the weather. The forecast says rain later this week. #astridspramwalkdiaries

chocolate chip cookies happening // I plan to freeze the dough in portions - instant fresh cookies whenever I want

Currently: Sverre is napping outside, I'm finishing a Blurb book, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie in hand. And then Broen on Netflix.

I wish bedtime could be as easy as daytime naps...

Happy Friday guys!

darker mornings, yet again // October 31

Saturday October 31, 8:30 am

Instant party mood on a Saturday morning with bunting and balloons. Plus aunt M and cousin S of course!

about the project // darker mornings // darker mornings, yet again

Darker mornings, yet again - the end. It has been less dark than I expected. But evenings have gotten noticeably darker, especially after the winter time change. Maybe that's my next project?
