life, week 19

exam preparations // my father-in-law is quoted in the book about work ethics

I washed my new black jeans with a white cloth, and it seems like the jeans have a bit of excess color. But why did the cloth turn blue, not black?

Taking care of these nasturtium babies while my in-laws are away.

Our lawn is slooowly greening.

last day of exam preparations // thankful for these two days off work to focus only on my final exam

DONE! Two years of part time pedagogics studies are over. Wish I could celebrate with plenty of champagne, but it will have to wait until our baby boy makes his appearance at the end of September.

home bound

A surprise package in the mail from my dear friend Hanne. Plus week 20 with stripes.

Our plum tree is blooming!

So is the cherry blossom tree.

He bought a new grill today, and he does not at all mind the rain and the four degrees celcius.

9 am Sunday bliss

wardrobe reflections // cherry blossom view from our bedroom window

Even though my studies are over, I'm not done with weekend work. Today I'm accompanied by new shelves whilst grading history papers about the American revolution.

Sunday dinner with my parents. A grilled dinner, of course. He sure is happy about his new grill.

things I like lately

Such a cliché spring photo, but this one is special to me because this cherry blossom tree is in my own garden.

- the fact that I have a healthy baby boy growing in belly
- finishing my studies!
- apple and mango juice
- rugsprø crispbread with Philadelphia creme cheese and thinly sliced radish
- this print (via 3191 Miles Apart newsletter - which I love and highly recommend!)
- thumbs up for this
- this bowl and this jug (I have a thing for terracotta)
- a new to me lovely blog: Me and Orla
- I love these kind of posts
- I love the redesign of A Cup of Jo
- our lawn is slowly turning green (it was seeded a couple of weeks ago)
- Sherlock on Netflix
- japp chocolate
- a surprise package in the mail from my dear friend Hanne in Bergen
- a bunch of the season's first rhubarb from a colleague (the rhubarb in our garden is still tiny)
- the stack of IKEA boxes in the basement living room has magically disappeared and there are suddenly cabinets on the wall in my little home office nook (my husband Sølve is my hero!)

Things I don't like lately

- shopping for curtains - I find it SO hard to decide what will look good

May 7, 2005-2015

2005: My oldest - and then only (now they are three sisters) - niece joined the family for a bit of spring cleaning in the garden at Voss.

2006: Caption written on Flickr: Sunday evening energy: ciabatta (from the grocery store) with cheese, fried egg and sausage. My craving for gourmet food (link to a photo of a plate of instant mashed potato and sausage) continues... ;-) I came across a very interesting project note today, which is very relevant to my thesis. It's even in English. So, if you're interested in food, you should read it. Cooking - As Identity Works Click "last ned i fulltekst" to download the whole text. 8 days to the final deadline... (for finishing my master thesis)

2007: Title and caption written on Flickr (it was the days of the numerous magazine swaps): this is how a very wet and cold spring day gets shiny and happy: finding magazines in the mail box // thank you so much for the lovely Landhaus, miss mckenzie. and the envelope is so cute!

2008: We went straight to Voss after Greece. We brought feta. There were four parents, two soon to be married, wedding planning, gardening and great food/wine.

2009: Seen on the streets of Parma, Italy.

2010: Caption written on Flickr: Friday dinner: grilled filet of wolffish and rose fish with garlic and parsley butter + boiled potatoes and spinach with olive oil and balsamic vinegar // blog update: the dinner project, week 18

2011: Stacks in our home office. I used to LOVE magazine. Not so much anymore.

2012: A playdate with Sara (to the left) and D. Their due dates were only one day apart. D was born on Sara's due date; Sara was born two weeks early.

2013: Slowly getting better after this and this.

2014: She cried big, big tears when I left her in kindergarten. It breaks my heart. But I know she loves being there, playing with the other kids. She'll be fine.

2015: DONE! Two years of part time pedagogics studies are over. Wish I could celebrate with plenty of champagne (because I really deserve it!), but it will have to wait until our baby boy makes his appearance at the end of September.

life, week 18

Pasta always wins.

Leftover chocolate mousse from Saturday's dinner party wins too.

Just finished my third Kepler novel in two weeks. Time for something else. Still crime though.

19 weeks // I do like the afternoon light in our bathroom

My only exercise these days: the walk to and from kindergarten to pick up Sara (ca 2,5 km). I could absolutely need a lot more; my shape is minus zero these days.

May 1, 8:15 am // milk, pacifiers and Netflix in bed

All lined up and ready for breakfast, thanks to my eager breakfast assistant.

one week and still going strong

Of course she wanted to help pappa change the car tires!

8 am Saturday bliss

Nynorsk - not my strongest suit. Luckily there are wordlists! (My favorite)

Dinner for one on a Saturday night. Sølve and Sara are having fun at our friends' cabin whilst I grade student papers and prepare for my own exam on Thursday.

9 pm // I love discovering the light in our new home

A Sunday afternoon nap to get me through a couple more hours of exam preparation.

I got a sudden urge to bake. Thanks Ina for the brilliant recipe!

Week 18: April 27 - May 3

life, week 17

Spending my Monday at home with my sick toddler. She seems to be happy with the free iPad access.

Still a little poorly, but much better than yesterday. Notice her toothbrushing outfit: one mitten and a cap with a beanie underneath.

Some classes are harder than others. I have so much to learn.

fleeting morning shadows

While I have been busy writing my own papers, my students' papers have piled up. Time for some serious grading!

I always overeat on rice pudding. I love it so!

ratatouille to be

House guests that make Eggs Benedict on Sunday morning, are very welcome guests in my house.

Week 17: April 20-26

Friday, 1 May 2015

things I like lately

week 19 // I have a feeling my belly will be huge

- snacking on diced watermelon at work all week
- the contrasts of April: frost in the morning and the smell of freshly mowed lawns in the afternoon
- being totally engrossed in reading (Kepler's The Sand Man and Stalker) all week
- spending very little time in front of the computer because of said reading
- Saturday dinner with close friends who spent the night in our guest department (aka the basement living room with the en suite bathroom)
- said house guests made Eggs Benedict for Sunday breakfast
- a beautiful bouquet of pink roses from said friends
- Sara has discovered the fun of using a snorkelling mask during her evening bath time
- Sara talks to the baby in my belly every day
- when Sara wants to show the baby something, she asks me to pull by shirt up to reveal my belly so the baby can see - so sweet!
- the news about our friend's pregnancy - her due date is just one week after mine
- this and this dress

- - -

Things I don't like lately

- I have two rolls of film ready to be developed, but it is taking me forever to get it done
- having absolutely no energy in the afternoon after work, which means too much Netflix for Sara (she is currently hooked on Vennebyen and Quack og Zack) (Sølve has been working late all week; he has been home after Sara's bedtime)
