life, week 44

so much traffic // never getting used to it

Tuesday 0:45 am // to make sure I don't get a minute of rest, I accepted a (fun) freelance job #needsleep

6:40 am birthday breakfast with a bunch of roses and my favorite chocolate to keep me company

Sara's 7:30 am birthday wake up call - we sang the birthday song four times before she finally woke up #3goingon13

Just what I needed on a Friday afternoon - a birthday gift (found in my post shelf a few days late) from my colleagues.

the day after

Is it wreath season already?

Damned mice got into the garage! Luckily it seems like they only went for Sara's carrier. Have moved a whole lot of boxes into the house though. Better safe than sorry! // our house renovation, week 9

"Man skal ei else for å sluke", Henrik Ibsen // Skien souvenir borrowed from my mamma because I couldn't find my own totes

So excited about the play-doh she got for her birthday. Apparently her pappa has some mad play-doh skills (in addition to the dinosaur cutting skills).

Sunday study space - assignment due Friday

bought them for my mum three weeks ago // rose win

our house renovation, week 9

renovation happiness: the basement floors are leveled!

And the plastering (or is it trowelling?) has started!

living room, now also sawing room

The plum tree leaves are gone and plum tree stick season is on.

Lots of work has been done in the front door area (what is the correct English word for this - front yard?) this past week. Glad to see the huge pile of soil and rock is gone (the one we dug last week).

Not sure what to do with these rocks yet - build another dry stone wall maybe?

There is not enough of the old paving stones, so we need more. Couldn't find the one we already have, so decided to go for something completely different to add contrast.

Backside of the house...

1 pm house inspection in the rain

We spent the weekend shopping tiles for two of three bathrooms. Kind of fell in love with these marble ones. Might be a bit over the top for our style, especially the price...

keeping it simple in the basement suite bathroom - grey for floor, white for walls

bathtub testing on a Friday night #glamorøsfredag #liksom

Trying to decide where to have our dining table (not this one, will need a new one) and our Moser lamps. Feels weird deciding this when we are so far from finished, but the electrician needs to know, so it has to be done.

things I like lately

the late October birthday family

- birthday week; Sølve on Sunday, me on Tuesday and Sara on Thursday
- seeing how excited Sara was about her birthday - she seemed to understand what it was all about this year compared to the previous two years
- seeing how excited Sara got about the doctor's set, the play-doh and balance bike
- I'm looking for a new shoulder bag/cross body purse; I like this one from Baggu and this from Becksöndergaard
- a fun freelance job (not that I need more work to do...)
- marzipan birthday cake for days
- a new coral colored nail polish (birthday gift from my sweet colleague Maren)
- my mum's halibut with boiled potatoes, carrots and sandefjordsmør (a sauce made of butter, cream, lemon and parsley)
- this song has been playing in my head all week
- this list by Anaruh

Things I don't like lately

- spending way too much time in the car
- driving when it's dark and rainy
- too little sleep lately
- my new old phone (a hand-me-down from Sølve) broke down and it seems like I have lost all the photos I took on Sara's birthday
- we just discovered that there has been/are mice in my parents' garage where we have pretty much all our things stored - Sara's carrier was an extra popular item on the mice menu...
