We have a Japanese maple in our garden and I absolutely love it. It's one of my favorite trees ever.

our house renovation, week 1

Friday August 29: the house is officially ours!

6 pm light

I found a patch of dappled afternoon sum light in our basement.

The renovation in ON!

So much work ahead!

Just like that the terrace is gone - because we need to fix the drainage around the house.

things I like lately

that light, that apartment | Agfa Precisa 100, Minolta SRT 101

- as of Friday August 29, our Stavanger house is officially ours!
- exciting plans for renovating our house
- an evening out with two of my best friends - so nice to catch up again! (and now that I live in Sandnes/Stavanger we can meet so much more often)
- a canning date with my friend T and my new friend O
- pedicure (gift from my mamma)
- finally meeting all my students
- and then meeting all their parents - a successful first meeting
- all the generous help from my colleagues
- meeting my fellow PGCE students again
this list by Anaruh
- your comments on this post
- driving my mother-in-law's convertible to work
- hiking to Steinkjerringa with my students and the rest of the 8th graders at my school
- all the generous help we get from our parents, especially with Sara + laundry, grocery shopping, dinner and all other kinds of house work - I feel spoilt and super grateful

Things I don't like lately

- saying goodbye to our Bergen apartment - it was very emotional
- still working on getting used to driving during morning and afternoon rush hour
- adjusting to a new job and the lack of mastery
- Sara adjusting to a new kindergarten
- hardly seeing Sara at all during weekdays because of long work hours followed by renovation planning at the house
- stomach flu

a food list

homemade gnocci | Agfa Precisa 100, Minolta SRT 101

Some time, in near future, I will

- make lemon mousse
- cook with the rose harissa that blog reader Sarah sent me
- once again promise myself to start using my cookbooks more often
- make pulled pork
- use a whole lot of chives from our garden (I'm ashamed to say that we have not been good at using it before)

I recently made gnocchi for the first time, using this recipe. It was ok, but has room for improvement.

(This post has been in my draft folder for a while. I planned on extending it, but now I'm posting it instead. In these busy days of renovation and new job, it's convenient to post already written posts. Also, living with my in-laws' means I don't cook a lot these days. Really looking forward to having my own kitchen again.)

Mallorca on film, part III

Agfa Precisa 100 and Kodak Portra 160, Canon EOS 500N

A visit to my friend Lorena and her husband Oscar's home in the lovely village of Capdellà. It was such a pleasure to finally meet her after several years of online friendship. They served a fantastic meal of traditional Mallorcan dishes, and Sara got ice cream - which she absolutely loves. Lucky us!

And then there is the home office - complete with dinner and dessert served by my mamma.
