about this project

- every Monday I post the week's menu
- I also post what we actually had for dinner the passed week (because it is fun to see if we actually followed the plan)
- there might be links to recipes, but the menu will mostly just be basic ideas for the dinners
- Saturday and Sunday dinners will often not be planned ahead because we have a habit of buying whatever looks good in the store when we are out grocery shopping Saturday morning
- each post will be illustrated with one of my food related photos, either from my archives or a new one

When I got up with Sara at 6:30 am this morning, there was snow on the ground. Now it is gone and it is pouring down. Gone are the gorgeous spring-like sunny days from earlier this week. So here are some sunny randoms from my film archives to make up for it.

The two photos taken with Fuji Sensia are from my parents' home, the rest are from my home.

things I like lately

Fuji Velvia 100, Canon EOS 500N

- Natalie's meal planning 101 post (via Shari)
- a new nail polish in the color "peach daiquiri" from Essie - makes me think of summer
- really looking forward to reading one of my favorite blogger Mammadamen's new book
- this shirtdress (via the style files)
- wooden kitchens
- the documentary Dagane Flyg (via Mammadamen)
- as much as I love my daily nap time walks with Sara (16 months old), sometimes the right thing to do is just let her nap inside so I can relax on the sofa and get some much needed me time - bonus: she slept for two hours! (not just her normal 30 minutes)
- Ollie & Seb's haus
- these photos and the rest of Jeanine's blog - ps: she shoots film
- a new pair of Wrist Worms - ps: they are discounted until March 10
- a new cookbook (even though I'm clearing out my old ones...) bought on sale
- came across this children's book at the same book sale - funny + great illustrations
- seeing the daffodils in my living room open up in full bloom (the photo above is from last spring though)
- made this as a side dish for bakes skrei (cod) - recommended!
- lots of sun and a feeling of early, early spring
- an evening out with my dear friends Hanne

iPhone photos processed with VSCO Cam and ShakeItPhoto apps

Yesterday I stopped by one of my favorite shops to get a birthday gift for my best friend. Bertha_ is such a gem! Quirky home accessories, cool kids' clothing and fabulous women's wear. Hege, the always smiling owner, does an excellent job in curating her shop.

Bertha_ has recently changed name from Berthas Oldebarn and moved from Sletten senter to Vaskerelven 35 in the city center.

Stephanie shoots film

Why do you shoot film, Stephanie?

My connection to film is related to my childhood. My first camera was a Cosina CX-2 and I used it to document people, objects and things.

Over the years, I have experimented with various film techniques and have used different cameras. My favourite camera is a Mamiya TLR but any medium format camera, like a Holga, will do because of the square negatives.

To me, film has a soul, a look at that can’t be achieved in a digital form. Film also forces me to slow down, think and then act.

However, I’ll admit that I’m not a purist. I use digital for work assignments because it’s easy to use but for personal projects my preference is film.

While I do strive to make each frame count, I have learned to love the imperfect images I sometimes get. That’s part of the fun of shooting with film: you never know what you’ll get when you develop that roll but most often, you’ll get something that takes your breath away.

You can see more of Stephanie's photos on her Flickr and Tumblr.

perfect morning moment

iPhone photo processed with VSCO Cam, from my archives

NIB (Norwegian interior blogs) has a little challenge going; in cooperation with Nespresso they want to see perfect morning moments. After I became a mother, my perfect morning moment simply looks like this. Calm. Coffee in bed - given to me by my husband who got up early with our daughter Sara. Time alone to enjoy the coffee and a good read.

a stolen moment

I'm enjoying a warm cup of coffee whilst Sara is napping - even though it is too late to nap at 5 pm. She fell asleep in the pram on our way home from doing errands in the city center, and she kept sleeping - snoring even - after I had taken the pram up the stairs and inside in the hallway. Obviously she is tired, so I don't want to wake her. Then again, I don't think she will be ready to go to bed at her normal bedtime hour tonight...

In other news; I did a tiny rearrangement of furniture today. I moved those two old fruit crates from the hallway to the corner there where that table normally is. I like it like this. But I also like having the crates in the hallway. I think there are more where I found them - in the basement at Åsly - so I'll just get a few more the next time we are there.
