It's time for my vacation. Yay! I might be online for another week while I'm in my hometown Sandnes, but I don't know if I'll have time for my daily posts. On August 2nd we leave for Croatia, where we're spending 10 days in the sun. I'm really, really looking forward to it, and I promise to bring back heaps of photos. Who thought I won't? Haha! The photo above is from our last vacation in Croatia in 2004.

Birdy Num Num

Great leather designs from British Birdy Num Num (via a back issue of LivingEtc). I wish they had an online shop so I could buy some of these beauties. They don't seem to have a retailer in Norway. Hmmm. That's a good idea... ;-)

family weekend

Happy Monday!
This is where I've been this weekend. Just a super slow Internet connection only suitable for reading e-mails, so no blogging and Flickr the last couple of days. It's really lovely being offline for some days, don't you think? I worked a little (by the desk seen to the right in the photo above) and had lots of fun with my nieces (1 and 3,5 years). Hope you had a lovely weekend too.

breakfast and faces

The weekend is here. I hope the week treated you well, and that you will enjoy some lazy breakfasts during the weekend (you know I love breakfasts). Some rise and shine inspiration from Red magazine might give you some ideas (photo above, click the photos to view them larger). Even though my week has been busy with work, I'm slowly getting into the holiday mood. So, I had a look in my archives and found this holiday breakfast photo from the island of Hvar, Croatia (top photo).
Friday Flickr Favorites. I think photographing people - and their faces - is hard. It depends so much on the person you photograph. Here are some great people photos I have faved:

pure style

One of my favorite sites online is Jane Cumberbatch's Pure Style. I'm sure may of you already know of the site and Cumberbatch's lovely books. The website says that the DNA of Pure Style is: "Romantic, inexpensive, natural, simple spaces, functional, easy feasts, homemade, thrifty, timeless, cool, country, family, going green, modern..." To me this is just perfect! The photo above was e-mailed to me a little while ago as a newsletter. PS: Click the image to view it larger.

catching up

Hei there! How was your weekend? Mine was very wet but excellent. The hike was perfect! Jördis and Mathias have started uploading their photos from the hike, I have to develop the film first. Today I have a lot of catching up to do - on Flickr, in blogland, and work. I have a busy work week ahead. Btw, if you wondered where we hiked, it was in Stølsheimen. We stayed at Selhamar and Åsedalen.
The photo above is just a chair a like. I have no idea where I found the photo.

weekend hiking

Hei friends!
How has your week been? Good I hope. My week has so far been filled with rather slow days at the office and great fun with my German guests in the afternoons. In a few hours we are heading off to the mountains to do some hiking for the weekend. The Norwegian Trekking Association are providing both marked trails and great cabins, all we have to do is pack our backpacks and dress up in our best rain gear. It's been raining for a week, and the weather forecast has no promise of sun... But we will bring our cameras, so it will be good times anyway!

Before I leave for the great outdoors, I'll present a new collection of my Flickr Friday Favorites. All these photos make me smile (and giggle).

tretorn

I like these cute, summery sneakers from Swedish Tretorn, and I like how the shoes are described: "The Tretorn T-56 is based on our heritage shoe from 1956. It maintains the same old-school charm as the original but still looks thoroughly modern. In seersucker with color pop laces, this shoe is perfect for easy-breezy days."

walldecoration

Only very short posts this week, since I have visitors.

Kragh Rosenberg

Hei guys! Hope you all had a great weekend - so did I. Lots of visitors and lots of fun. Even though we still have visitors, I have to work a little. Time in front of the computer means I have time for a (very) short post.
I like Danish Kragh Rosenberg.

photo fantastic

My guests and Sølve are still sleeping, so I have time for a short post.
If you haven't already read this post over at Jen and simply photo you really should. You should also take your time and see all of Leslie Williamson's photos on her website. Like Jen, her photos take my breath away. Oh wow! Such amazing work!

summerparty

On my mind today is food, dinner with friends and long summer nights.
Yesterday the office had a summer party/surprise hen party for the hostess (hence the mini bottles of sparkling wine with straws). We sat outside all night eating and drinking all kinds of yummy things. Fresh shrimps, sparkling wine, strawberries, cheese... Oh joy! I'll do more of this during the weekend. Fellow foodie friends from Sandnes are coming in the afternoon and their visit will for sure include great food and drinks. On Sunday I'm picking up Matt and Jördis at the airport. Maybe they will bring cupcakes?
While I'll entertain my guests this weekend (and not spend time in front of the pc), you can explore new Scandinavian cooking. I hope you find something you like. I'll be back on Monday.
Here's my Friday Flickr favorites:
(i got new shoes) - I think this is the first feet shot I faved. I adore this kind of shots. I even have a whole set of them on Flickr.
lounging with a pot of espresso - miss Veronika Lake has such great interior style! She's also a great photographer.
untitled - this makes me long for cold, silent, white winter days in the mountains.
Dripping icing - white on white beauty
new york - I want to go to New York.

liten fotografi

My sister (she's here) introduced me to Swedish photographer Lina Tengström. They went to school together in Lofoten for a year, and we met when I visited my sister. Lina and her liten fotografi (translates to small photography) is really inspiring. I love her simple, poetic storytelling.

Benedikte Ugland

Hope you had a great weekend. I sure did. Although my body is all sore from the hiking yesterday. Such a beautiful day, such beautiful landscape - so close to my home! Bergen is surrounded by 7 mountains, Fløyen and Ulriken is probably the best known. With the cable car, the top of mount Ulriken is only ca 30 min, or less, from my home. Vidden is the area between Ulriken and Fløyen, which is were er hiked yesterday.
A piece of photography inspiration today. I like Norwegian photographer Benedikte Ugland (via this post at lifeiscarbon). Her farmers series (example above, photo from her website, where there's lots more photos) is really nice. She also has some great interior shots.

If you haven't already visited lifeiscarbon, you should really take your time and have a look. It's one of my favorite places to visit. This blog, or more like an online magazine, is all about art, architecture, design, fashion and music from Scandinavia. That's what you all like, right?
