the dinner project, week 18


Monday May 3: hot dogs

Tuesday May 4: grilled slices of leg of lamb (store marinated) with baked potatoes and tomatoes tossed with butter and a parmesan-ish cheese - our first dinner in the garden this season (photo above, more photos here)

Wednesday May 5: Astrid's home alone dinner: whole grain spaghetti with pesto, leftover shredded chicken, a little bacon, fresh tomatoes and Jarlsberg cheese (photo here)

Thursday May 6: Sølve's stew with filet mignon of beef and pork, fried potatoes, onion, shallots, garlic, chili, canned tomaotes, stock, a little bit of cream, creme fraiche and fresh parsley (photo here)

Friday May 7: grilled filet of wolffish and rose fish with garlic and parsley butter + boiled potatoes and spinach with olive oil and balsamic vinegar (photo here)

Saturday May 8: birthday dinner for our friend in our garden: first course: salmon sashimi, second course: homemade meatballs and scampi, main course: grilled filet mignon of pork and sirloin of mutton with Sølve's fantastic parsley, coriander, chili marinade + a salad with lots of greens, strawberries and melon, dessert: homemade chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream frosting

Sunday May 9: grilled sirloin of mutton with a marinade of tomato puree, pesto, onion, fresh coriander, lemon juice, salt, pepper and sugar + baked potatoes and grilled asparagus (photo here)

Monday April 26: roasted broccoli and scampi with chili explosion spices, a little fresh lemon juice and fresh cilantro + brown/wild rice mix (I have mentioned this dish before, it's adapted from this, photo above)

Tuesday April 27: salad in whole grain pita bread, just like Saturday last week

Wednesday April 28: hot dogs

Thursday April 29: Sølve's yummy nachos

Friday April 30: my aunt's homemade lapskaus

Thursday April 22: nibblies (including our homemade meatballs) and drinks at the office before the dock catwalk show

Friday April 23: Astrid's home alone dinner: bolognese leftovers

Saturday April 24: Astrid's home alone dinner: salad (store bought rocket mix, a few leftover strawberries, red bell pepper, cantaloupe melon, canned ham and cilantro) in whole grain pita bread (photo above)

the dinner project, week 15


Monday April 12: first bbq of the season: store marinated mutton sirloin, baked potatoes, corn cobs, store bought garlic baguettes and sour cream

Tuesday April 13: bbq leftovers

Wednesday April 14: grilled Salma salmon with lemon, fresh ground salt and pepper + fresh fruit salsa (inspired by the 10 cent diet) with strawberries, mango, melon, kiwi, pomegranate, lime juice and coriander (photo above and here). This is really yummy - a new favorite!

Thursday April 15: store roasted chicken and rice

Friday April 16: salmon sashimi + scampi with mango, sweet chili sauce and coriander - another yummy new favorite!

Saturday April 17: chicken filet filled with bacon and cheese, served with risotto with mushroom and Jerusalem artichoke

Sunday April 18: a spontaneous four course dinner with our hiking friend: 1st course: store bought fresh whole grain spaghetti with salmon, canned mushrooms, serrano ham, tomato, olives, butter and cheese. 2nd course: scampi with mango, sweet chili sauce and coriander. Main course: pan grilled sirloin of beef with boiled potaotes, roasted onion and red wine sauce. Dessert: fruit salad with vanilla ice cream. Here are photos of the four courses.

the dinner project, week 14


Monday April 5: store bought pies; one with ham and cheese and one with bacon and broccoli

Tuesday April 6: Sølve's pantry pasta, which I think included leftover marinated filet mignon of beef, orange bell pepper, onion, pesto, cheese and whole grain spaghetti

Wednesday April 7: Astrid's home alone dinner: leftovers from Tuesday

Thursday April 8: beef stroganoff (we made 9 liters (!) for Sølve's work thing on Friday)

Saturday April 10: dinner at our friends' place: roasted leg of lamb with boiled potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and apple juice/cream sauce. Dessert: vanilla ice cream with warm blackberries

We spent the whole week at the the mountain cabin, so all these dinners were made and enjoyed there.

Saturday April 3: grilled leg of lamb, boiled potatoes tossed in butter, tarragon and herbs de provence, red wine sauce and apple juice/cream sauce

Monday March 23: at my grandparent's place: Astrid's fry up with potato leftovers, store bought roasted chicken, tomatoes, red onion, mushrooms, and store bought fresh ravioli filled with cheese

Tuesday March 24: Sølve's bolognese with store bought fresh whole grain tagliatelle

Wednesday March 25: bolognese leftovers

Thursday March 26: Astrid's pantry pasta: penne with shredded chicken, red bell pepper, snow peas, onion, a little bit of butter and a parmesanish cheese I don't remember the name of.

Friday March 27: salmon sashimi

Saturday March 28: at my parents' place: leg of lamb + root vegetables

Sunday March 29: at the mountain cabin: my father-in-law's "mountain beef" with juniper berries, fried mushrooms and potatoes with tarragon

I forgot to photograph any of the meals this week, so the photo above is an extravagant breakfast we had during Easter at the mountain cabin. It's dinner leftovers on a sandwich; mustard, thin slices of grilled filet mignon of beef, onion soaked in red wine sauce, asparagus and cheese.

Monday March 8: pan fried pre-spiced sirloin of pork (a Kiwi Go' helg product) with roast potatoes, a pimped Toro rosé pepper sauce and a salad (photo above)

Tuesday March 9: pita bread filled with taco spiced minced meat, roasted chicken, salsa, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red bell pepper, corn, red onion and shredded cheese

Wednesday March 10: leftovers from Tuesday

Thuesday March 11: Astrid's pantry pasta: store bought fresh tortellini filled with ham and cheese, shredded chicken (leftovers from Tuesday), canned ham (leftovers from a weekend lunch), tomatoes, red onion, a little bit of shredded cheese and butter, fresh ground pepper

Friday March 12: salmon sashimi + fresh shrimps with white bread and mayonnaise

Saturday March 13: dinner at our friends' place: first course: lobster in cognac orange sauce with asparagus (old photo here), main course: roasted entrecote with roasted potatoes, vegetables and sauce, dessert: cheese and cured ham

Tuesday January 26: spaghetti with canned Portuguese tuna (a souvenir from my trip to Portugal in September last year), avocado, tomatoes, spring onion, grated parmesan, the juice of half a lemon and fresh ground pepper.

Wednesday January 27: pancakes with bacon, sausage and cheese

Thursday January 28: stir fry with sirloin of pork

Friday January 29: fresh scrimp with white bread, mayonnaise, lemon and a Petit Chablis

Saturday January 30: Dinner at friends'. First course: scallops on a thin slice of pan fried toast with purée of peas and caviar (photo here). Main course: lamb with roasted vegetables and pesto (photo here). Dessert: dark chocolate cake with raspberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream (photo here).

Wednesday January 20: homemade Thai inspired chicken stew with brown and wild rice

Thursday January 21: leftovers from Wednesday

Friday January 22: dinner & a movie date; sushi and stir fry at Red Sun restaurant in Bergen + Avatar in 3D (wow!)

Saturday January 23: roasted entrecôte with a red bell pepper/pepper marinade, served with homemade potato and carrot fries, aioli, tomato salad, a tzatziki inspired sauce + a cream sauce made from the broth from the roasted meat (photo above)

Sunday January 24: red wine sauce based beef stew with Jerusalem artichoke and other root vegetables

Monday January 11: Pre-marinated sirlion of pork (a Kiwi Go'helg product), soaked in pineapple juice, pan fried. Served with pan grilled corn cobs, roasted onions and canned pineapple.

Tuesday January 12: Pasta salad (photo above) made of whole grain pasta with pesto, roasted chicken, a little bit of salami (it adds such great flavor), a little bit of leftover canned ham, ruccola, cherry tomatoes, red onion and snow peas.

Wednesday January 13: Thai-style chicken soup with lime (a tips from Charlotte)

Thursday January 14: homemade pizza

Friday January 15: salmon sashimi with Veuve Clicquot + fresh scrimps with white bread, mayonnaise, lemon and Bopparder Hamm Feuerlay riesling spätlese trocken 2008

Saturday January 16: pan grilled scallops with cognac orange sauce + scrimp risotto with pan fried cod

Sunday January 17: risotto and cod leftovers with homemade potato and carrot fries (made like in this video)

the dinner project 2010


I think I'm ready to commit to a new daily project. It's not a photo project like my last daily project. This time I'm going to write down every day what we have for dinner, and once a week I'll give you the week's menu here on the blog. There might be some photos as well, but not every day.

Here we go:

week 53

Friday January 1: frozen pizza

Saturday January 2: Dinner at our friends place. First course: lobster in cognac orange sauce with asparagus and Champagne (to drink). Main course: lamb inspired by this recipe (I don't know the English word for this part of the lamb - do you?) with potato gratin, pan fried pears and hazelnut sauce.

Sunday January 3: home made vegetable soup with sausage

week 1

Monday January 4: Beef sirlion fried in fresh rosemary and a little bit of butter, roasted potato wedges (with olive oil, salt and pepper) and homemade aioli (photo above). I have been asked for my aioli recipe - I'll give it to you soon :-)

Tuesday January 5: The same as Monday. It was so good!

Wednesday January 6: Roasted filet mignon of pork covered in pesto and bacon + homemade mashed potatoes with a bit of finely chopped red onion and cream.

Thursday January 7: Pizza at restaurant Spesial in Bergen.

Friday January 8: homemade lasagne

Saturday January 9: lasagne leftovers with a green salad and homemade focaccia bread

Sunday January 10: pizza take out from Dolly
