old becomes new

Fretex is the Salvation Army's secondhand outlet in Norway. Fretex has now made petty little dresses in a cute, nostalgic 40s style out of old curtains and table cloths. The dresses are sold in a few chosen shops in Oslo, and I nearly bought one when I was there this weekend. They are really pretty. What put me back was the price - 1400 kr, which is about €177/£142/$280. I love the concept though.

Read the article (in Norwegian) here. The photos above are from this article.

Also, take a look at this (make sure you have the sound on). "Se din kjole" means "look at your dress" and it refers to a children's song called "Se min kjole" meaning "look at my dress". The song is about all the colors of my dress.

The model in Se din kjole is Hege Golf. Read more about her here.

In other news, I bought the shoes for my wedding dress when I was in Oslo this weekend. They are flat silver sandals, and they were much cheaper than the ones I found at NET-A-PORTER. I'm happy! Also I decided to continue using my IKEA dinner plates. Thanks for the great argument, Emma!

hoss intropia

More beautiful fashion photography. These images are from Hoss Intropia spring/summer 2008 catalogue. You might remember the Spanish brand from this post in September last year.

I'm in love with this photo. And I quite like the dress too. It's from the Swedish fashion brand Hope. Found it while working on an article for no magazine.

fashion blogs

We all love The Sartorialist, don't we? At least I do!

Here are some Norwegian fashion blogs that I enjoy. From top to bottom in the image above: Ingvild Telle - Siggelicious - Style Bytes

I'm sure there are heaps of other great fashion blogs that I have yet to explore. Any tips?

Paris je t'aime

Hei guys! I am back from my Paris weekend. I think I am in love. Such a beautiful city. I know I have to go back to explore the city more. We took about 500 photos, so guess what kind of photos will be dominating my Flickr stream the next days...

Did you see the movie Paris je t'aime? I saw it when it came out in 2006, and I liked it. I think I want to see it again now that I have actually been in Paris.

Some new things (yay!) in the photo above:
- New toy: camera
- Leather travel bag bought in Paris
- Cool print t-shirt from Poketo
- Skinny jeans from H&M

I hope you all had a great weekend and that you are doing good in this holiday time. Can you believe it is only one week till Christmas?! Note to self: Buy presents!

the perfect marriage?

Next year Marimekko and H&M are collaborating. Me likey!

This is what the press release says:

Marimekko is licencing its patterns to H&M's summer 2008 collection

Marimekko Corporation and H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB have today signed a license agreement whereby Marimekko licenses some of its popular patterns from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s to H&M's summer collection 2008. The impressive collection of around 50 products will be sold in H&M stores in 28 countries.

"Our design team has long admired Marimekko's vivid patterns and colours. When our designers came up with the idea of creating a collection with Marimekko patterns, it felt very natural and timely. The summer collection 2008 will be joyfully fresh like a vitamin injection," states H&M's head of design Margareta van den Bosch.

"H&M is one of the trendiest and most successful fashion houses in the world. I see a great value in our co-operation. I believe that it will enhance Marimekko's international recognition among young and fashion-conscious consumers," says Kirsti Paakkanen, President of Marimekko.

In addition to increased international visibility, licensing co operation with H&M will generate substantial non-recurring royalty earnings to Marimekko during the second quarter of 2008.

girly galoshes

Remember I told you about the Norwegian Swims galoshes?

Swims galoshes are now available for girls too! I like how they have made the galoshes look so sexy... Take a look on the website for more photos and to buy the galoshes.

Check out the website of the shop Pur Norsk. They are giving away a free subscription to one of the magazines I write for, no. You might need a Norwegian address to get it, but I'm not sure.

Paul Smith

I have fallen in love with Paul Smith.

I have uploaded the rest of the roadtrip photos. Hope you enjoyed the trip.

The last photo in the "October Roadtrip" set will probably be my last new digital photo for a while. Seems like my camera decided to die in the middle of the Lærdal tunnel. It's been with me since June 2004, so maybe it's time to upgrade...

bits & pieces

Some bits and pieces from autumn Bergen today.

I found a fantastic photostream on Flickr today. I totally neglected my work for a while and took the time to browse through all of feels just like home's photos. You should do the same - I know you will enjoy it!

I love the Fullum & Holt bags! (via hoping for happy accidents)

I'm really excited about the upcoming lifeiscarbon publications.

I'm falling in love with the lovely clothing of wiksten (via here).

A big thank you to all of you who visit this site. I'm not so good with replies to your comments, but they are always appreciated.

PS: I posted a few more roadtrip photos today, the last batch will be up tomorrow. The photo above (which I think Sølve took) is from the mountain crossing called Valdresflya.

girly long johns

It's been some cold autumn days lately and I have woken up in the morning with an ice cold nose (I always sleep with the window open). I guess it's time to start wearing wool.

Speaking of wool. Looking for good looking, girly long johns? Take a look at this website: Kari Traa. Kari Traa is a Norwegian mogul skier from Voss, who has launched a sport clothing line. There's even a web shop!

Haltenbanken has done a lot of fabulous work for Kari Traa, including the shop interior (together with interior architect Ørjan Djønne). See more photos on their website.

American Retro + sun

Today I found out that the lovely French brand American Retro is being sold at Vrimmel in Bergen. Hurra. Take a look at the brand's website, it's updated with the autumn/winter collection. I like it a lot.

It's sunny in Bergen today. Beautiful.

how about galoshes?

I'm a big fan of practical yet stylish stuff. So how about galoshes?

Swims are practical, stylish and Norwegian. On the website you can read the story behind the product, and also see more elegant photos and design. There's even a shop. It's a pity swims are only made for men.

on my wish list

Hei.
I'm back in my office in Bergen after a couple of days working in Stavanger. My mind and thoughts have officially landed after the Croatia holiday, and now everything is about work. I have busy days and weeks ahead, which will include more traveling (which I'm really excited about). In the meantime I'll post more photos from Croatia on Flickr (I picked up the films today - yay!) and I'll (hopefully) give you a daily dose of inspiration here on hei Astrid.

On my wish list: A pair of high waisted skinny jeans. I'm so tired of low waists.

Photo of Scarlett Johansson looking good in high waisted jeans (and red lipstick) at the Imitation of Christ fashion show, from Vouge.

tretorn

I like these cute, summery sneakers from Swedish Tretorn, and I like how the shoes are described: "The Tretorn T-56 is based on our heritage shoe from 1956. It maintains the same old-school charm as the original but still looks thoroughly modern. In seersucker with color pop laces, this shoe is perfect for easy-breezy days."

vila

I like the Danish high street brand Vila.

Kragh Rosenberg

Hei guys! Hope you all had a great weekend - so did I. Lots of visitors and lots of fun. Even though we still have visitors, I have to work a little. Time in front of the computer means I have time for a (very) short post.

I like Danish Kragh Rosenberg.
