a photo an hour

A photo an hour on Tuesday March 15 - the day my big baby Sverre turned 6 months. Time flies!

7 am: We have been up for an hour already. 6-ish is his new standard wake up time. A little too early for my liking, but this too shall pass - like all other baby phases.

8 am: Still hooked on oatmeal porridge for breakfast. Always happy to have it with a side of sunshine.

9 am: Nap time pram walk to the local grocery store.

10 am: Sara is home from kindergarten, recovering from yesterday's fever. Getting ready to go to IKEA. Need to pick up a few things plus Sara has been asking for an "IKEA ice cream" (soft serve) for ages.

11 am: Apparently IKEA not only equals IKEA ice cream, but also meatballs. Luckily there were meatballs at the breakfast buffet. Too early for meatballs for me, so I opted for yoghurt and müsli.

Noon: IKEA ice cream!

1 pm: Speed vacuuming (so much needed) whilst Sara watches cartoons and babysits a sleeping Sverre via the baby monitor.

2 pm: The nap did him well. So happy!

3 pm: More iPad (she watches way too much when she's sick) and playtime whilst I tidy the kitchen.

4 pm: After a few laps around the garden to get Sverre to sleep, I enjoy a little bit of mamma time in the absolutely gorgeous spring sun. It didn't last long until Sara called for my attention; her fever seems to be coming back.

5 pm: Playing cards whilst Sara snacks on plain macaroni - the only thing she wants to eat today.

6-7 pm: A stroll around the lake with a dear colleague. So nice to catch up! Also, first time out in the evening since Sverre was born. He needs his mamma's milk - and he does't take the bottle - so I can't be away from him for too long. This too shall pass.

8 pm: Both kids are asleep and Sølve makes his super yummy pasta bolognese for dinner.

9 pm: TV dinner. We just started watching Cooked on Netflix. I think I like it.

10:30 pm: Finally bedtime. At that point I was unaware that it would be a very busy night with both kids waking up way too often - Sara because of the fever (yes, it came back) and Sverre because of... I don't know what. Because he is a baby.

a photo an hour

A photo an hour (or so) on Tuesday December 15 - the day baby Sverre turned 3 months old.

8 am: Not so early start, which was pleasant, but it was a busy start getting Sara to kindergarten and Sølve to work.

9 am, part 1: Stopped by the post office to send a couple of Christmas gifts. Luckily there was no line. (These days before Christmas the line is normally super long.) Sverre fell asleep in the car, like he normally does during our morning drop off ride.

9 am, part 2: Took a moment to enjoy the frosty garden and morning blues before making breakfast and nursing.

10 am: So happy and chatty after nursing! Also: watching a very mediocre Christmas film; Twelve Dates of Christmas. Don't bother watching it.

11 am: As part of the preparation for Sverre's baptism on Sunday (Dec 20), I decided that our silverware needed a proper cleaning (using this/this simple method). Surprisingly Sverre fell asleep on the activity gym - it only lasted five minutes though.

Noon: Baby lunch time and nursing view - such a beautiful day! Should go out for a stroll, but not sure it will be time to prioritise it.

1 pm: Time to sort out the Christmas cards!

2 pm: Sara has decorated her bedroom mirror for Christmas.

3 pm: I love watching him play on the activity gym. I don't do it a lot though; it's so convenient to get things done around the house whilst he plays.

4 pm: Once more taking a moment to enjoy magic of the blue hour.

5 pm: Waiting for Sølve outside his office. Sara quietly sings Christmas carols whilst Sverre screams his lungs out...

6 pm: Grandiosa frozen pizza with extra ham and cheese for dinner. Keeping it real.

7 pm: So excited to decorate the tree!

8 pm: Rather suddenly Sverre has become ready for a much earlier bedtime. He used to fall asleep around 11 pm - now he is normally asleep at 9-ish.

9:30 pm: They saved a few decorations for me. This one is a favorite - made by my ceramicist friend Fia.

10:30 pm: He is actually more into decorating the house for Christmas than me.

11 pm: Now that Sverre falls asleep a little earlier than before, I tend to get to bed a little too late. I get too caught up in the freedom of not nursing all evening.

a photo an hour

A photo an hour (or so) on Tuesday September 22, 2015 - and baby Sverre is one week old

8 am: Sølve brings Sara to kindergarten these days since Sverre's sleep pattern is so unpredictable. So whilst little brother still sleeps, I wake up Sara and get her ready for the day. She is excited for the photographer who is coming to kindergarten today and insists on wearing the new Hello Kitty sweater for the photos. (I tried to convince her to wear something different with no luck. Should have bribed her with ice cream.)

10 am: After a rather rough night with lots of nursing and little sleep, I'm super happy that Sverre decided to sleep in. He woke up minutes ago - and so did I. He demanded breakfast at once and I had no other choice than to oblige.

11 am: Finally breakfast time for mamma too.

Noon: Getting ready for outdoor lamps shopping. It turned out he didn't care less (surprise!) and slept through the whole thing.

1 pm: Lunch time

2 pm: Helsesøster / nurse (or is it called public health nurse?) home visit. Lots of information on having a baby (most of it was info we got when Sara was a baby) and weighing of Sverre - he is gaining weight like he should, so all is well.

3 pm: Coffee and pastry time...

3 pm: ...with a side of sleeping baby. Yes, I spend a lot of time in this corner of the sofa. So glad we bought it!

4 pm: Doing a lot of this these days - and I love it! So, so thankful that I'm able to nurse and that it is going so well.

5 pm: She is really into beading these days - both at home and in kindergarten. I wonder what we should do with all the finished bead works... My task is to sort the different colors. It's kind of zen.

6 pm: Dinner time. A new winner; an adapted version of this + an adapted version of this teriyaki sauce.

7 pm: Sølve and Sara are out biking/running while I'm home feeding the little one (again). Currently reading "Marco-effekten" by Jussi Adler-Olsen.

7:30 pm: A celebratory pappa daughter selfie - she did so well!

8 pm: Bed time reading

9 pm: Supper: sukkerkavring, kulturmelk (soured milk) and sugar

10 pm: My view from the sofa whilst in the middle of the evening nursing marathon.

11 pm: Sverre is finally done nursing and I can finally go to bed (with a massive headache).
(Luckily it was a good night, so I got enough sleep and woke up with no headache.)
