Tuscany | Il Cipresso

Fuji pro 160S, Olympus mju

Il Cipresso was my favorite of all our educational study tour visits. Il Cipresso is an organic farm which has been in the Marcelli family for three generations. The farm is now run by Alberto Marcelli and his wife Silvia. They have a true passion for what they do - wine making, olive oil, cured meat and cheese, plus agriturismo. There is a lovely little house at the farm available for rent. The whole place and concept reminded me of that organic farm in Cognac.

If you read Danish you should check out my fellow writer/blogger/traveler Mira's post from this place.

Tuscany | Il Borgo di Vescine

The accommodation for our educational study tour of Tuscany was the beautiful Il Borgo di Verscine in Radda di Chanti. Due to our busy schedule we unfortunately didn't spend much time there. Il Borgo di Verscine reminded me a bit of Crillon le Brave in Provence, where we honeymooned in 2009.

Tuscany | Castello di Volpaia, on slide film

Kodak elite chrome 100, Minolta SRT 101

Volpaia is a beautiful small fortified village in the middle of the Chianti area of Tuscany and the home of the Castello di Volpaia winery. We were given a tour of the village and the winery, and then we enjoyed a lovely dinner in the Al Chiasso die Portici restaurant.

Tuscany | another lunch

The lunch on our second day of the educational study tour of Tuscany was just as huge and fantastic as the lunch we had the previous day. This time we enjoyed local dishes at Ristorante Adriano Di Nencini Fabio in Cerreto Guidi. After that we got a guided tour of the Polli factory, and then we drove a lot (again) to have a guided tour and dinner at Castello di Volpaia.

Tuscany | Svoltaccarozze, on film

Fuji pro 160S, Olympus mju

After that fantastic lunch we drove to Svoltaccarozze, a winery, restaurant, bed and breakfast in Murlo, 20 km south of Siena. Svoltaccarozze is a lovely family run place, where they among other things grow a lot of their own vegetables for use in the restaurant kitchen.
