things I like lately

Kodak Portra 160, Canon EOS 500N

I'm in the middle of my second home exam this semester. The second this semester, but happily the last one - possibly ever. Both my family and I are quite happy about that. Few people put exams on top of their "fun things to do during spring" lists - I'm no exception. Needless to say, I need a little positive distraction in the shape of a happy list. (Lots of repetition of the word "happy" here; that's one of the things I'm writing my exam about; the use of repetition in theatre language *nerd emoji*.) Here we go (it has been a while):

- Scenes Unseen: The Summer of '78 (via Stephanie's stories on Instagram)
- my long sleeve (of course! otherwise my arms get cold when they are outside the duvet) pyjamas is coming to pieces, so I'm looking for a replacement, for example this, this (both a little pricey though), this, this or this
- this animal poster (via A Cup of Jo)
- this new IKEA shelf
- the smell of freshly mowed lawns
- the sound of bird song in the morning
- green smoothies with kale, spinach, avocado, banana and pineapple juice instead of apple juice
- looking forward to binging on season two of "A Handmaid's Tale" once I've finished my home exam
- snacking on cherry tomatoes and walnuts (together in mouthfuls)
- our new sandwich maker (elegantly designed by Konstantin Grcic for Krups) - because grilled ham and cheese sandwiches *praise hands emoji*! (home exam craving!)
- the vending machines at the university for providing chocolate - because motivation during exam writing

Things I don't like lately

- the time consuming aspect of a home exam
- the lack of (desperately needed) exercise
- the never ending sugar craving

hei

Kodak Gold 200, Minolta SRT 101

I'm still here.
Sort of. Not really.
Mostly I'm over here.
I might come back here though.
I miss it. Sometimes.
Having a break feels good too.
How are you?

the 2017 film, part VI

Kodak Portra 400, Minolta SRT 101

The last week has felt a lot like spring. There are snowbells and crocus in our garden. We had drinks on the terrace yesterday. Now it's snowing. Because sometimes it snows in April, you know.

the 2017 film, part V

Iceland, July 2017 // I took five photos on film, two of them didn't turn out, so this is what I got; Skálholt and lupins. I'm pretty pleased that the colors match so well.

things I like lately

light, my muse

- my parents and in-laws - and Sølve, of course - for helping out with the kids (+ the house in general) now that I'm busy writing my home exam. I couldn't have done it without them!
- a sunny afternoon after a very foggy morning
- toddler feelings helpline (via A Cup of Jo)
- snowdrops
- a weekend in Stockholm with my mamma (unfortunately my sister and her family got sick, so she couldn't come)
- visiting Fotografiska - such great exhibitions; I especially enjoyed the Christian Tagliavini one
- binging on season five of "Homeland"
- watching "Ugly Delicious" on Netflix with Sølve
- a flowery, colourful silk blouse from & Other Stories - perfect for spring, and for layering with wool (camisole underneath; cardigan on top) now while it's still freezing.
- Greek yoghurt mixed with Bonne Maman apricot jam - a lucky discovery because we were out of honey
- light, sun and fresh air
- writing

Things I don't like lately

- writing my home exam. I'm happy with the task though; Ibsen's "Ghosts".
- hardly any time at all with my kids because of said exam. I only see them in the morning; they are already asleep when I get home from the University in the evening.

green smoothies

I have been asked on a previous what I have in my green smoothies. I drink them several times a week; sometimes I get Sara and Sverre to drink them too. They are no fans of green vegetables, so it's a fantastic way to sneak in some vitamins in their little bodies.

I have found a lot of inspiration in the Green Kitchen Stories smoothies book. I have tried a few of the recipes, and I have learnt how to tweak them and make them fit my own tastebuds even more.

The green in the smoothies normally come from spinach, broccoli, kale and frozen green peas. Sometimes a mix of all four, most often a mix of a couple of them. It depends on what I have on hand. I have learnt that frozen vegetables are great in smoothies, so normally I always have broccoli and peas in the freezer.

For sweetness and texture I add a frozen banana; sometimes a little avocado too. The liquid in the smoothie is either orange juice or apple juice. I have tried with almond milk too, but it was no success for me. Still working on getting the hang of plant milks. I normally also add ginger and crushed flaxseeds too.

I have found that the smoothie will keep in the fridge for a couple of days, in case I make a big batch that doesn't get drunk all at once.
