ask me anything

iPhone + ShakeItPhoto app

Inspired by the lovely Vigdis' recent FAQ post, I decided to challenge you to ask me anything (and I will do my best to answer honestly). Just for fun! Also, feel free to share a bit about yourself. I would love to get to know you hei Astrid readers a little better. Who are you? Where do you live? What are your passions?

BONUS: At random I will pick 5 of you who will get 3 prints (13*19 cm in size) of your choice. Check my photos on Flickr to decide which 3 prints you want.

PS: Before you ask, you might want to check out my first round of answers, two years ago.

  1. Good idea. What's the dream you would like to come true ?

  2. Hej Astrid,

I´m Katrine from Hamburg, Germany, and I´m reading your blog for three years now. I´m a lawyer, currently at maternity leave. My daughter will be 5 months next week. I commented before and also asked a pet-related question in your first faq-round.

It´s great that you will answer some questions again because looking at your instagram pics and the photos on the blog made me wonder:

    1. Do you have any advice or tipps regarding flying/solo roadtrips with a baby?

    2. All those delicious salads: do you have a special home made salad dressing?

    3. Your daily dose of nature: are those stunning places in walking distance to your home? (And if yes, I´ll make my family move. Office and nature in walking distance....*sigh*)

Greetings and have a nice evening

  3. Hello, Astrid! Your blogging seems to be very deliberate and well thought - you seem to only blog meaningful posts. What key pieces of advice would you give to someone who wishes to be a successful photographer and blogger?
Thank you Astrid, for sharing with us!

  4. Hei Astrid,

I am Anna from Calgary, Alberta (though now residing in Cranbrook, British Columbia), Canada. When I was young, my family lived in Kiruna, Sweden for a year; I loved it there (on a side note, we visited Tromso a couple of times during that year, and it was so much fun seeing the photos of your visit there)! I am 37 years old, married for 16 years, and Mama to a 15 year old, and a 14 year old. I will be returning to school next September to obtain a Diploma in translation and interpretation in English/French, and hope to one day obtain one for English/Swedish as well.

My passions are languages, reading, the study of religions, mathematics for relaxation, and photography (I love admiring good photographs, but alas I am not skilled at taking them myself).

What I would love to know about you:

1- Would you ever consider living abroad?

2- Would you ever consider going back to school, and if you did, what would you take?

3- Would you like to have more children? (your Sara is darling!)

I have been a reader for a couple of years now, and I look forward seeing your answers to the questions.

    Hej da

  10. hei astrid!

  11. Hi.
Your blog is great. I 've been following it for a few years.I love your thoughts and photographs...
My husband and I spent the last two years living in Iceland and we recently moved to Montana, USA. I was born in Denmark, raised in the States. I am nurse...

My question -- I'm not the best with change (moving, new job, etc), so I was wondering how do you handle change?
    Thank you.

  12. Hei Astrid,
I am quite new follower of yours. I like your blog a lot, it has beautiful pictures and a genuine feeling to it.

I like to exercise, walk my dog, sleep, see the world and beautiful nature. I am almost 33 ( this month), married for 5 years, no children. I live currently in Finland but next year we'll move and Bergen is one of the options!!! I love Norway, been there 5 times.

I would like to ask how is Bergen for someone not native? Is it easy to make friends and what people do on their free time? Any advice you would give someone moving to Bergen?

  13. Hei Astrid,
I am an avid reader from the US. I enjoy your posts and photographs of your home life in Norway and travels abroad.
I'd like to ask you which type of light, morning or evening has inspired you the most, lately?

  14. Hei Astrid,

I am a norwegian reader, living in Oslo with my boyfriend and our little daughter (11 months). Among other things I love photography, snow and colorful yarn :) I have been reading your blog for about 2 years.

Do you take less pictures during winter (because of the lack of light)?
Did you study photography or are you self-taught?
    What is your favorite camera?
Did you and Sølve renovate the appartement yourself? How much did you end up spending on the renovation? (I love how your appartment ended up and we are soon going through the same process so I would looove some tips ;) )
Does Sarah sleep through the night?
When are you going back to work?

    I love your blog!

  15. Har du en favorittkafé/spisested i Bergen?
Hva er det fineste denne bloggen har ført til?

Jeg er en stor tilhenger av dette stedet ditt,
    men det vet du.

    Hilsen Ida

  17. I would LOVE LOVE to win 3 pictures as a print!! So I thought hard about questions, read through the fewer post. First I wanted to ask what your favorite food is, but now my question is:
☞ Do you play an instrument? Or did you play one (and maybe don't have the time now anymore ♬)?

  18. Hi, I've been following you on FLickr for a while. I used to blog a lot 5 years ago, but my three were quite small at the time and I took a break from blogging, both posting and reading. The last one had to do with changing from Safari to Firefox, meaning that my rss feeds would go to my mailprogram. I'm now back to safari and it's easier to keep up with blogs. I was born in Korea have lived in quite a few countries and now live in Italy. I actually have no questions. Just thought I'd drop in and say hei!
