Such an inviting kitchen! I love all the white, the subway tiles and all the personal touches (via Husligheter).

places I would rather be

Even though we don't do much of the renovation work ourselves, the whole process is really tiring. The garden suite is nice, but I miss having a real home. I miss real summer and I wish we could go somewhere warm, near a beach - like the places pictured below. I'm sure everyone who has been through a big renovation project can relate to this.

Crillon le Brave, Provence

Nice

Whiteheaven beach, Australia

The island of Hvar, Croatia

Grand Hotel Central, Barcelona

Cassis, Provence

dinner

Here are some recent (and not so recent) dinner favorites:

- mushroom and bacon risotto made with Jacobs oksekraft (broth)

- lentil soup with lamb and coriander (via matprat.no)

- grilled cod filet with lemon, garlic and fresh parsley served with a spicy fruit salad with watermelon, honeydew melon, mango, strawberries and fresh coriander

- grilled trout with pesto and garlic served with baked potatoes and a classic cucumber salad (cucumber dressed with vinegar, water, sugar, salt, pepper and fresh parsley)

- pan fried slices of turkey filet with Sølve's special spice mix served with a salad made of a store bought lettuce mix of baby spinach, rocket and red rhubarb, little gem lettuce, pomegranate, mango, celery and red onion (photo above)

- side dish: cannellini beans dressed with a good olive oil, Maldon salt, fresh ground pepper and fresh parsley from the garden (idea brought home from Tuscany)

- grilled Salma salmon (with Maldon salt and fresh ground pepper) served with a couscous salad with fresh Norwegian strawberries, nectarine, honey dew melon, watermelon and mango, plus parsley and chives from the garden

PS: The Dinner Project Blurb book is still available in my Blurb bookstore.

Tuscany | Castello di Volpaia, on slide film

Kodak elite chrome 100, Minolta SRT 101

Volpaia is a beautiful small fortified village in the middle of the Chianti area of Tuscany and the home of the Castello di Volpaia winery. We were given a tour of the village and the winery, and then we enjoyed a lovely dinner in the Al Chiasso die Portici restaurant.

Sophia shoots film

Why do you shoot film, Sophia?

I shoot film for the excitement and anticipation, and the fact that I can compose and process a photo whichever way I want, but the rest is out of my hands. An element of magic occurs after I press the shutter, and the surprise that ensues fills me with joy. In a fast paced world, shooting film is a way for me to slow down—to be patient and to wait for the results, treasuring what I’ve created. I love film for its imperfections: for the light leaks and the grain, the unintentional lines and the unusual colors. While digital photography is easily manipulated to create desired effects and to mask flaws, film photography requires a certain degree of acceptance and a willingness to go with the flow, finding the beauty in photographs that may not have turned out the way we’d planned.

You can see more of Sophia's film photos in this set on Flickr.
