artist diner outtakes

Here are some more outtakes from my contributions to the new project I'm doing with my friend Trine, Artist Diner. If you read the post yesterday, you might have noticed that we are publishing a limited edition mini magazine. The magazine was sent to the printer yesterday and it will be delivered at the end of the week. We are planning to open a Big Cartel shop were you can buy the mini mag and possibly some prints. I will let you know when it's live.

Read more about Artist Diner in yesterday's post and see more outtakes here.

Artist Diner

Remember this sneak peek? Here is finally some more information about this project my friend Trine and I have been working on for some months.

This is Artist Diner:

Artist Diner is a collaboration between people with ideas.

Artist Diner’s hosts are graphic designer Trine Hisdal and copywriter Astrid Hagen Mykletun. We like ideas and are curious about others’ ideas. We like that ideas can be expressed in different ways, through different media. We therefore invite our friends and acquaintances to share their interpretations of given themes.

Artist Diner has four different annual themes. Each theme is presented in a limited edition mini magazine, an exhibition with a selected number of the mini magazine’s contributions, and the website artistdiner.com. The theme will here be presented through unique contributions that are neither part of the mini magazine nor the exhibition. The website is a dynamic part of the project and is open for contributions from anyone.

Artistdiner.com will be launched on Saturday.

The official Artist Diner launch is on Saturday. On Sunday between 12 and 6 pm we invite everyone to visit Salongen in Nykirkeallmenningen 7, Bergen for our little show. Click on the image above to view the full invitation (in Norwegian).

Shokoofeh shoots film

Why do you shoot film, Shokoofeh?

It was "love at first sight" when I developed the very first roll of film in my life in the university's lab. I am sure you know what I am talking about if you have ever been in a darkroom. If you have ever felt that excitement and joy when you see your images appearing magically on a paper in developer. Every single part of the process is divine, and is the experience that you will never forget.

That was how I started to shoot film.

Photography with an analog camera is like preparing your ingredients for a very special dish. You have to be mindful. You need to have passion. And... you should wait. But when you finally see the outcome you can't be more proud.

You can see more of Shokoofeh's film photos on her blog and Flickr.

a new astridhagen.no

My friends Jördis and Mathias in Berlin did a great job helping me with my first astridhagen.no website. But after about 3,5 years it was time for something new. I used virb.com to build the site. It's a great tool for a person like me who don't know any programing but still want to have some control over my site. Astridhagen.no is a portfolio for a sample of my writing and photography. Please have a look if you are interested.

Stacey shoots film

Why do you shoot film, Stacey?

i started shooting film in college and fell in love with the process. film takes time and it takes deliberation. but now, the meaning has shifted slightly. i think i shoot film now because i want to make sure i am actually seeing what i am taking a picture of, it's a different sort of deliberation. but also, i'd be a liar if i didn't say that the heavy slap of the shutter makes my heart race.

You can see more of Stacey's photos in this set on Flickr.

and the winner is

I just asked Sølve to say a number between 1 and 62 (which is the total number of comments on the giveaway), and he said 61. So, the winner of the 30 days of winter book giveaway is Nadja's comment. This is what she enjoys most about winter:

1.det fineste med vinteren er fyr i peisen, musikk i ørene og rødvin i glasset. mens man ser ut vinduet på snøen som faller ned.
2. kjenne solen i ansiktet på en klar og kaldt vinter dag, mens man puster inn frisk luft og beveger seg gjennom livet.

Which means: 1. The best thing about winter is a lit fire place, music in my ears and red wine in my glass whilst looking out the window and seeing snow falling outside. 2. to feel the sun on my face on a cold, crisp day, whilst breathing fresh air and moving through life.

Congratulations Nadja!

Please email me with your address.

right now

Right now there are crocus and snowdrops in our garden in Bergen, there is still lots of snow outside our house at Voss where we are spending the weekend, and it is less than 10 hours until the giveaway ends (at 8 pm CET+1).

gone

As I mentioned here; now that we use Spotify to play music I want to get rid of our CDs. It's done! - and the book shelves looks so much better without them. We didn't part with the CDs completely though; that would be a hard task. We keep a lot of them a filing case like this in the car and the rest are at Åsly, the family holiday home.

How about you; how is your music/CD situation?

Art notes, from left: polaroids by my sister Mari, polaroid by Brigitte Heinsch (aka Maditi on Flickr), illustration by Sandra Juto, poster from Bergen Art Museum and drawing by Anna Emilia. We have some framing and hanging to do, including the two new Peter Lik photographs we bought in New York.

the disappointment, part II

I had a new film developed a couple of days ago; a Kodak Portra 400nc shot with the Minolta SRT 101. The three images above are the result of shooting in bright sunlight in our snow covered garden. I don't understand why the images didn't turn out. It reminds me of my first disappointment when shooting with the same camera (and Fuji Superia X-tra 800) on a bright sunny day on a snow covered beach during Christmas. Does anyone know why this happened?

Ines shoots film

Why do you shoot film, Ines?

I started shooting film this summer. 2 years ago I found an Olympus OM-1 in my house, it was from my father but hadn't been used for a very long time, I had to get it repaired but never did because I'm never long enough in my home country to do it. So last summer I decided to buy a Canon AE-1 in internet and since then i put my digital camera aside. Shooting digital has nothing to do with film. I so love the feeling of taking pictures with it, the shutter noise, waiting (sometimes months) to develop them, the moment where you see the result is so exciting! You never know what you will get. I love surprises! I also like the fact that with film I'm more conscious about what i shoot (I can't afford to waste my films), so I take less pictures and that makes them more special to me.

The picture I attach is the first picture I took with my camera. I got my AE-1 on a trip to Paris, the seller was from Paris so I got it hand to hand. I went home and made this picture to try it out!

You can see more of Ines' film photos in this set on Flickr.
