another visit to Anne K's studio

Here are some more photos from Anne K's lovely studio, taken this Thursday in late May. The next time the artists' studios are open until 7 pm is August 26. I'll post a reminder some days before. Btw, here is a little something the local newspaper did on the artists.

Anne is one of the artists down at the dock at USF.

I have another batch of photos from Anne's studio that I will show you next week.

pretty

I like summer light and flowers. How about you?

happy

The colors of this stool makes me happy - and happy is the name of it!

Happy is a little stackable and three leged stool. Its design is creative and clean with an elegant meeting between oak and the top surface. Happy is perfect as an extra seat or a small table.

Gustaf shoots film

Why do you shoot film, Gustaf?

For some reason shooting film is easier for me. It's almost a crutch. I'm not sure why this is, and in some ways I wish it wasn't so. I loathe scanning, the dark side of shooting film in a digital world. Perhaps film works for me because it slows me down a bit. I'm working on bringing that across when I'm shooting digital, but it would be hard to give up the Rolleiflex.

You can see more of Gustaf's photos on Flickr and his website.

London, part I

After tea, toast and pain au chocolat in Charlotte's garden on Thursday morning last week, I meet up with London local Famapa of my funny eye and Mathias of Holgarific, who happened to fly over from Berlin for a conference at the exact same day as me (C had to work so she couldn't join us).

We met up at the ever busy Oxford Circus and Famapa guided us into Soho where we had lunch at Fernandez & Wells (73 Beak Street). I had a tuna sandwich.

There were so many delicious treats on display. I should have had cake, but I was full. No reason to worry though, because I know I will come back to this beautiful place.

Famapa loves ginger beer, while her little baby boy O loves to smile and charm his mother's friends.

Matt's camera and a good looking bike.

I loved the interior at Fernandez & Wells, especially the nice wooden textures.

Around the corner in 43 Lexington Street Fernandez & Wells has a food and wine bar. It looks just as beautiful and inviting as the café. Next time!

Yesterday morning I got up at 5 am to drive the 3 hours south to Haugesund for work. These are a few of the things I saw.

I briefly mentioned yesterday a book called Bønner og linser (beans and lentils) by Camilla Jensen. Some days ago I came across this on Klikk.no; Camilla Jensen's home. It's as beautiful as her cookbook! Click here for more photos (by Espen Grønli for Bonytt).

Colie shoots film

Why do you shoot film, Colie?

I love to shoot film because it is made up of magical ingredients that create beautiful stories. There is a slow and artful process to it, not unlike tapestry weaving or book binding, where the thumbprint of craftsmanship still exist. For me a photo is always about looking back and film is the vehicle of such nostalgia's.

You can see more of Colie's film photos on Flickr.

bride to be

Hei guys! The reason for my five days offline is a visit to London to meet fabulous Flickr friends and a hen do in Center Parcs/Longleat Forest. I've had a blast! I'll show you more photos when I've had my films developed. The digital shots are to be viewed by the bride's friends only. Ha! ;-)

everyday life

Braids like this make me think of a lovely French girl who served us at a lovely restaurant in the lovely village of Cassis in Provence last summer.

Our Saturday dinner guests gave us peonies from this place. They are so, so pretty!

We pulled all the daffodil, tulip and crocus bulbs out of the soil and let them dry in the sun. Hopefully they will give us joy and happiness next spring too.

An old olive oil container is my livingroom garbage can when I'm sick and need to use Kleenex every other minute. Luckily it has been put away for now.

My sister Mari brought her polaroid camera to Bergen. As you can see I have not taken many polaroids in my life, but I can easily admit that it is truly magical.

One week ago, at 11 pm, this is what I saw out our kitchen window.

work

If you read Norwegian and happen to pick up Dagens Næringsliv today, you can read several of my articles (and see my portrait photos) in the the Bergen supplement. You can also see the supplement here.

I interviewed commissioner Lisbeth Iversen for the article on page 5. She talks about Bergen as a city of the future, highly focused on dealing with climate change.

On page 7 there is an interview with professor Helge Drange from Bjerknes Centre for Climate Change about what water can do to Bergen, and on page 14 there is an interview with byggesakssjef (I don't know the English name for her title) Else-Kristin Foss Vikenes and geologist Gunn Østvik Petersen about risk and safety analysis.

On page 9 there is an interview with deputy county mayor Tom-Christer Nilsen and head of the climate section in Bergen municipality Eva Britt Isager about shore port to ship power.

On pages 10 and 11 there is an interview with managing director of Bergen Chamber of Commerce and Industry about the new Bergen light rail (opening June 22).

On pages 16 and 17 there is an interview with project manager Bjarte Stavenes about how the municipality is planning to improve the conditions for bicycling in the city.

mmm!

Summer is here. It's not very warm yet, but still we are enjoying some beautiful sunny days. And food! We (not just my husband Sølve and I but my sister Mari too who is in Bergen for a month) have made some really delicious dinners lately. Quite a few have been grilled, served with a salad of some sort, and enjoyed in our lush garden. I had a film developed today (Fuji pro 160S) and it was full of these wonderful summer meals from the last couple of weeks. It really made me smile.

This is the salad we had on Saturday; rocket, baby spinach, coriander, nectarines, blueberries and coriander - mmm!
