home sweet home

Hei guys! How have you been? It's been a while. I've been more or less offline the last two/three weeks. It's been a lovely break, but I missed you guys too.

We came home to Bergen last night after 23 days on the road. We're just stopping by quickly to do some laundry, and then later today we're off to Voss to celebrate my in-laws' 40th anniversary. Needless to say, I have a lot of photos and stories to share with you - including 5 rolls of film.

The photo above was taken in our hotel room in Provence (I'll tell you more about the hotel later) on day 10 of the vacation. They are surprise honeymoon roses from my husband. He's so romantic!

Nordic Light Hotel

Friday morning we drove from Oslo to Arvika in Sweden to leave our car at a Saab reapir shop to get it fixed while we're on vacation. We took the train to Stockholm and stayed the night at the Nordic Light Hotel. If you haven't already been here, I recommend you stop by for a night or two. It's very special - we loved it.

See more photos from our belated honeymoon on my Flickr, and here are all my photos from Nordic Light Hotel.

the opera house

My girlfriends and I had lunch at the opera in Oslo today. Such an amazing building. The opera house is design by the Norwegian architects Snøhetta.

roadtrip Bergen-Oslo

Our belated honeymoon/summer vacation has started. Well, at least for me. Sølve has to work in Oslo until Friday while I hang out with friends here. The first part of our trip was a roadtrip from Bergen to Oslo, with a lunch stop at the family house at Voss. Here we are crossing Hardangervidda (the Hardanger plateau).

adventures ahead

We are off on a month long adventure tomorrow. We changed our minds about the roadtrip in the US. Instead we are visiting Oslo, Stockholm, Barcelona, Provence, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, and a few other places in Sweden and Norway. I'll probably stop by here from time to time and give you glimpses of our travels. So long peeps!

the garden party

My friend turned 30 this weekend and she celebrated it with a wonderful girls' garden party. Her husband cooked a super yummy bbq dinner, the weather was warm and sunny, and all the guests wore pretty summer dresses. There were lawn games, bare feet in the grass, and strawberry galore.

The birthday girl had a big smile on her face the whole evening. It was in fact the perfect summer garden party.

remembering 2008

My everyday stories pro account expires on August 12. I'm not planning to renew it or keep the account since the project is done and I have a book to remember it by. I just wanted to let you know, so that you get a chance to look at the photos before I take them offline.

Here are my favorite duos from each month:

January

February

March

April

May

June

July

August

September

October

November

December

Like I said before, I got tired of my everyday stories project from time to time, but I'm glad I did it. So now I have already started making a Blurb book of my everyday life photos from 2009. Part 1 is a 200 pages book documenting January to June, and I'll order it as soon as we get home from vacation.

I'm off to my hometown Sandnes again this weekend to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday, to hang out with friends and go swimming at the fantastic beaches down there south of Stavanger. We have fabulous sunny, hot summer weather in our part of the world these days, and I'm going to take full advantage of it. Happy weekend peeps!

xpro feet and pink flowers

I just got the Agfa Precisa 100 back from the lab, and I'm very happy with the result. This is the third film I have ever cross processed, and I think it's the best one so far.

Here is the result of the first film I cross processed, and here is the result of the second film. I have no idea what kind of films I used.

If you are unfamiliar with cross processing, take a look at what Wikipedia writes about it. Or you can read this article in Norwegian about kryssfremkalling.

The Treehouse Song

I like this song very much, by Norwegian artist Ane Brun.

Gone Fishin'

These Gone Fishin' prints are not new, but I just rediscovered them and want to share them with you who might not seen them before - because I really love them. Gone Fishin' is a collaboration between MAV of the always inspiring 3191 Miles Apart and Christopher David Ryan, a grapich artist who's style I really like.

Their collaboration Staring at the sun is also really great. All prints can be bought here.
