øyeblikk - a book

I love making Blurb books, so I have made another one. It's called Øyeblikk, which is the Norwegian word for moment. Directly translated øyeblikk means eye glance. Øye = eye, blikk = glance.

Øyeblikk is a collection of 90 photos shot with film. The book is 80 pages square format. Have a look at the preview here.

kitchen mess

Busy work day. This video is funny (via Siggelicious). The photo above is from our kitchen, and is shot with film - the one I mentioned before. Sølve cooked and made a mess + a delicious meal of course. I don't remember what it was. Good night.

guest blogger at Bloesem

Hei again guys! I'm stopping by just to tell you I'm guest blogging over at Irene's wonderful Bloesem for a couple of days. Enjoy!

photos galore

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have uploaded a whole lot of photos to Flickr lately. Most of them are private, but I just uploaded a bunch that is public too. There are a few from our home (like the ones above), some from my everyday life, and some flowers from our garden. I know flower photos can be really boring, but having a garden makes it so much fun to photograph them. I also like to document our garden from month to month. If you have a garden, I think you know what I mean. Because flowers are pretty, right? :-)

My photos on Flickr

I have thought about getting a new photo editing program. So far I have used Photoshop Elements 2.0, that I got with my first digital camera (Canon EOS 300D), and it has worked very well for me. I have heard so much good stuff about Lightroom, so I downloaded the free trail yesterday. I think it's always a little hard to start using a new program, and I'm not sure Lightroom is the thing for me. But I'll give it a try.

What kind of photo editing program do you guys use? Are you happy with it?

nerds

Hei there you fellow photo nerds. I have a question for you; how do you back up your photos? I have all my digital photos and scans of recent films on my pc + on an external harddrive, and now also on Flickr. I uploaded thousands of photos to Flickr during this week. It's overwhelming, but it feels good to have a backup there as well. I hope my backup plan is as good as I hope it is. So, now what should I do with the old negatives that still are in boxes at my parents' place...?

pretty packaging

Great package design can make you buy things just because it looks so good, like these cereal bars and müsli, and the chocolate in the photo above. Did you know there is a whole site dedicated to beautiful package design? There is; Lovely Package (via Unruly Things).

the 17th of May

Sunday morning Sølve told me "if I'm going to write a cook book, I'm going to name it how to cook for 15 when you're expecting 4".

Sølve managed very well - as always - and we even have leftovers. In other words; we had a perfect celebration of the constitution day.

flowers for the weekend

Flickr favorites links: 1. rananculas, 2. ranunculuses on blue, 3. film.174, 4. ranunculus

These bright, vivid colors make me happy, and they are perfect for the sunny, celebrations filled weekend ahead. There will be a 35th birthday to celebrate and a 3 years old little girl is also celebrating her birthday. On Sunday the whole country will celebrate the constitution day and I will be wearing my bunad (the national costume). Hurra!

How about you, do you have anything to celebrate this weekend?

mmm Parma

Parma. A beautiful Italian city that I saw a bit of in just a little more than a day. Mostly there were ham, super delicious Parma ham, but also a lot of delicious food and wine in general. I'm a big lover of Italian food, so it was a very pleasant yet short stay. I would love to have more time to sit down at the charming enotecas enjoying wines and watching people - the always elegant and stylishly dressed Italian people. Needless to say, it was a joy to be allowed into a restaurant kitchen to watch the chefs work their magic. I'm definitely going to try to make Rosa di Parma on day. (This recipe seems like a nice basis.) I guess it's no surprise that the souvenirs I brought back home was big chuncks of Parma ham and parmesan. Yum!

If you are interested, feel free to check out all the Parma photos - here.

cured meat

The Norwegian producer Tind makes cured meat based on old traditions with a modern twist. They also have a beautiful visual profile (by Panorama Design), that recieved The Award for Design Excellence by The Norwegian Design Council in 2007.

A group of Slow Food people in Oslo blind test cured hams, and they found that some Norwegian ones - like the one from Tind - are as good as the famous serrano ham from Spain and parma ham from Italy. Read more about the test (in Norwegian) here. Here is another test, also in Norwegian.

Talking about cured ham - I'm off to Parma for a few days to enjoy some of that delicious Prosciutto di Parma. Ciao!
