Famapa shoots film
Why do you shoot film, Famapa?
For me, shooting film again is like re-connecting with a long lost friend; it made me wonder how on earth we lost touch when we were getting on so well. I've shot on film since I was 10 but as soon as I went digital I unceremoniously dumped film. It's only through blogs and flickr that my love for it has been re-ignited. Film has soul where digital doesn't, just like how music sounds so much richer on vinyl than it does digitally. Pictures come out with textures and tones that a digital just can't compete with. I love how it slows you down and makes you think harder about what it is you want to capture; you simply can't afford to be wasteful as every frame counts. Then there's the wait and the gamble; "Did I get the exposure right?", "Did I get the focus right?", "What was it I took a picture of again?". The not knowing makes it so exciting to finally see the results. I'm so happy I found my old friend again.
